Frequently Asked Questions by Doctors

What are the hours of work?

At the clinics we represent, the doctors are self-employed – they don’t work for anyone, but rather work together for the practice. As such, you choose your hours of work within the clinic’s opening hours. Most physicians work full-time (40 hours per week), as well as covering the occasional evening or weekend on a rota with the other clinic doctors.

In Canada, private practice doctors are not salaried. You bill our public health insurance for patient visits or participate in the roster program (which is a flat fee annually per patient). As such, your compensation is based on your billings. Most clinics contract on a 30/70 split to cover operating expenses (such as support staff, facilities, supplies, etc).

Our client clinics estimate C$250k PA based on 900 patients. Of course, if your patient list is larger, you may earn more.

As long as you are licensed to practice medicine in the United Kingdom, you can be sponsored to work in a Canadian clinic. You must supply your credentials as part of your registration with us so that we can confirm you are eligible.

Absolutely not. There is no fee for registration with us. We want you to register so we can get to know you and match you with the right clinic. Once you are ready to sign your 2-year contract with your sponsoring clinic, we will invoice you our C$5000 fee. This fee is due upon receipt.

We offer a highly personalized connection service to GPs and clinics. Our primary goal is to ensure that you are happy with your new clinic and colleagues. Emigration is a big decision so we offer support, advice, and information to help make the process more seamless and less stressful.

We are asked this a lot, and there isn’t one right answer. For many, it comes down to compensation. For others, it could be a fresh start, opportunity to be a partner in a clinic, or any other personal reason. No matter why, a move to Canada is a great idea.
