Are You Eligible?
The Canadian government has made it easier for General Practitioners/Family Doctors from The United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or The United States to immigrate here and practice medicine without the need for exams.

If you are licensed to practice family medicine in these countries, you may apply for a letter of eligibility with the College of Family Physicians in Canada (CFPC).
There are specific eligibility requirements depending on your country of licensure, however all require:
- Up-to-date registration and membership in your jurisdiction’s governing body
- License to practice medicine
- Certificate in Family Medicine
For example: In the UK Graduates of general practice vocational training programs that have been accredited by the General Medical Council (GMC) who meet the standards of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) who also hold Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP).

Step 1: Take a self-assessment to confirm your eligibility.

Step 2: Apply for Letter of Eligibility
If you are eligible, you may apply for a Letter of Eligibility from the CFPC, which means you do not have to take a certification exam to practice in Canada.
Fee: C$3432.00

Step 3: Register with the College of Physicians in Ontario (CPSO)
Upload your credentials and register for a Restricted License. This license does not impact your ability to practice in Ontario in any way, but rather identifies that you are working under a Letter of Eligibility. If you choose to write the qualifying exams, you may change your license type (but this is not necessary or required.)
Registration fee: C$1035
